Social scientists have found that genocides and ethnic mass murders are not carried out primarily by career criminals or sociopaths, but rather by “ordinary” groups of people who fit a general profile of the population. This presentation will review some of the latest research findings that attempt to explain how ordinary people under certain situations can commit such violent acts.
